Going to Tallinn has become a cherished summer tradition. We truly adore Tallinn from the bottom of our hearts. This was our 4th visit to Tallinn, which made it a bit more challenging, but I would say that Tallinn is incredibly family-friendly and offers plenty of activities. In total, we spent 3 nights in Tallinn.
Here's what we recommend checking out:
— @nigulistemuuseum church tower, from which one can enjoy a truly lovely view of Tallinn. There's an elevator, making it accessible even with a stroller, which is great.
— @fotografiska.tallinn a place we've visited in previous years. The exhibitions change regularly, so there's always something new to see.
— When it started raining, we sought refuge in the spa of our @lembitutallinn hotel. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. The breakfast is excellent, the location is superb, the service is lovely, and the rooms are clean and tidy.
— @eestimeremuuseum where we explored various watercrafts. There was a chance to get into a submarine, experience a mini-Venice, children had a chance to have fun with a boat controlled by a remote control. The museum is captivating, and I find that to be so cool, both for children and adults.
— While Natans played in the playground near the water transport museum, which is right next to the water transport museum (which I highly recommend allocating an extra 30 minutes for, as the playground is very cool), I ran to look at the @shishi_homeofbeauty's deco shop. Of course, I found some things I added to my shopping list!
— @protoinventionfactory a factory of various inventions, proved to be unexpectedly fascinating. I'll be honest, initially I thought it would be solely for Natans, but I found myself engaged in every aspect! It's a must-visit if you have children Plus, there is an extremely beautiful cafe inside, where you can get away a little and take a mini coffee break.
— Adjacent to the invention factory there is the @kaicenter, an art space featuring an exhibition. Though we didn't manage to visit, I'd recommend stopping by if you're heading in that direction.
— We also went to @ringkeskus, a relatively new addition to Tallinn. There’s a very cool children's area, opportunities for adults to unwind, along with a wide selection of saunas. we swam, relaxed and had a blast in this wonderful recreation centre.
— @poco.art.tallinn is a gallery showcasing 'pop art' works. We opted for a guided tour, and it turned out to be a great decision The guide shared so many interesting facts about Banksy, Andy Warhol and many other world famous artists and their works. Plus, one of the halls features works by the Latvian artist @ritums_ivanovs!
— @arhitektuurimuuseum is worth a visit, especially if you're into architecture or happen to be nearby. It's conveniently close to the PoCo Museum, so we combined the two. Out of all the museums that weren't geared towards children, Natans liked this one the best because there were a lot of miniature houses to look at, which he especially enjoyed.
— We strolled through the beautiful park to @kumukunstimuuseum, where we breezed through, as there were paintings, I preferred Natans not to see! However, if you are an art lover, I think you will enjoy it here.
Here are some places we stopped for breakfast, food, and coffee, which we highly recommend:
— Breakfast @paris.pagardeliresto felt like a slice of Paris with its extremely beautiful interior and absolutely delicious pastries. We wholeheartedly recommend this place.
— I had read rave reviews about the coffee place @fikaleibjakohv. It’s located in a very nice area, and we liked everything here. While the place is quite small, it's perfect for a quick coffee break.
— For dinner, we tried @pohjalataproom, which is actually a brewery. We’re not interested in beer, so I can't tell you how it tasted. The food was decent; however, due to its popularity, the wait was quite long. It was a one-time experience for us, but the ambiance and opportunity to see the brewery were cool.
— If you are in Tallinn, @lorebistrootallinn is a must-visit. The food here was simply excellent! 10/10. With a view of the harbour full of yachts, very good service, beautiful interior, and even a toy box for children, we'll definitely dine here again if we return to Tallinn.
— Dinner at @rataskaevu.16 was delightful. They have two locations, and we opted for the smaller one. I enjoyed an amazing virgin mojito and a delicious dinner. We'd definitely return here as well.
— @kookerstreetcafe is a mini pancake paradise located in a park with a large playground nearby. This time, we stumbled upon an amusement park that had been set up there temporarily! And the pancakes, both salty and sweet, were superb, making it an ideal stop for families with children.
— Our last stop was @viru_food_hall_, conveniently close to our hotel, from where we had to pick up our things from the airport. This 'food court' offered a wide selection of dishes, from which we tried several: sushi, octopus, burger, pavlova, and lemonade. There's something for everyone here!
We didn't manage to do more on this trip, but I believe you could see a couple more locations if you're traveling without children. However, with our @visittallinn cards, we had great opportunities to visit museums and enjoy free public transport, which was incredibly convenient.
We like Tallinn very much, and we definitely want to come back here again. See you on the next adventures!
